Kia ora bloggers,
I registered for the summer learning journey and it goes from 2021 - 2022.
After I registered for the summer learning journey I did the NASA edition colouring book.
I chose to do the space shuttle landing.
I found filling in all the little bits tricky.
I enjoyed colouring it in and trying to match the picture.
Next time I would change the colours I chose.
Kia ora bloggers,
For reading we were learning about medicinal plants called rongoa.
Rongoa are plants like harakeke that can help people recover from wounds and sickness.
We had to make a sign and choose one rongoa medicine to write about.
We had to write how it can be used as medicine and how to turn it into medicine.
I found it tricky deciding what plant to choose because they all looked interesting to write about.
I enjoyed looking for facts and information about rongoa.
Next time I would change the way I put it into my own words.
Kia ora bloggers,
For week one art we were learning how to mix a skin tone.
Firstly , we had to put an image of ourselves into a laminating pouch and trace our body.
Secondly, we used acrylic paint and mixed it into our skin tone and colored on the inside of the laminating pouch.
Thirdly, we colored our T-shirts and eyes. Lastly, we put some card inside the laminating pouch and glued our name onto it
I enjoyed making my skin tone because if I knew how to mix colours, I could be a better artist when older.
I found mixing the skin tone and using the right colours.
Next time I would change how I did my eyes.
Here is an image of my finished artwork.
Service poster
Kia ora bloggers,
For Religious education we have been learning about service. We were learning about service because it is the term 4 value.
An example of service is like someone saying "do you need help" or donating things that you don't need anymore to to the poor.
I had to make a poster about service. We had to include what service is and maybe animate our poster.
I enjoyed animating my poster and learning about the value of service.
For lockdown we had a Saints task to do. We had to use google drawings And draw our house saint.
We had to include why he is important to our school, A quote from him and an interesting fact about him.
I found making the shape of his body and using polyline tricky. I enjoyed learning about saint vincent.
Meow, hi my name is Poppy and I am a cat.
I belong to the Mcguinness family. I feel like I need to tell you that if you are getting a pet you should get a cat instead of a dog. I firmly believe You should get a cat because dogs are utterly disgusting. Cats are so clean that we spend a third of our lives cleaning ourselves.
Firstly, dogs are disgusting because they are dirty and smelly. Have you ever smelt a wet dog? It is so smelly. Wet dog is an actual word. Even the word is yucky! Wet cats smell like nothing. When a wet dog comes inside and it shakes, water goes everywhere. Dogs bark and they are so noisy. Did you know that Wet cats just clean themselves without messing a single drop of water on the floor?
Did you know that when cats clean themselves they have special Soap on their tongue that cleans their bodies and Makes their coat water resistant.
Secondly, When we have taken in too much hair we gag it up into a neat little ball for you to clean up.
When Dogs say “hello'' they just sniff each other's butts, But cats just hiss at each other to say hello. When cats hiss we are very smart because in lockdown we social distance when we hiss.
Cats are not as greedy as dogs because other cats that have to live with dogs have told me that dogs devour their food in seconds and after that eat the cat's food!
Thirdly Cats are way smarter than dogs. Because dogs can only fetch sticks and balls but cats can fetch you cool presents like leaves, mangled mice, broken birds, dried up worms and delicious crunchy cockroaches.
Dogs need a lot of attention and never leave you alone. But us cats don't even care about you that much and we like to be alone. Did You know that cats sleep up to 16 hours a day so that they can leave you alone for longer.
As you can see cats are better than dogs because dogs are noisy, they are weird and they are crazy.
Cats are much quieter than dogs. Dogs are so noisy and cats are as quiet as… ooh a mouse excuse me!
For lockdown one of our tasks was to play Kylah's escape house.
I found getting through every room and getting the answers right tricky.
Here are some screenshots of the different things in the rooms.
My favorite room was the one with the tarantula.
I liked Kylah's escape room because it was fun and challenging.
For Lockdown we had a task to do.
It was to do two experiments,
One with ground peppercorns and soap,
And one where you have to float paper clips.
The reason for doing the experiment is to learn about water tension. You can see an example in the photo I took.
The water molecules stick together and don't break so the paper clip floats.
I found balancing the paper clip onto the other paper clip tricky.
Here is a video of attempt 127. AKA 5.
For week five in lockdown we had a task to do.
it was to do an experiment with a bottle, some vinegar, a balloon and baking soda.
First we had to pour some vinegar into the bottle.
Next we had to pour the baking soda in the balloon.
we chose to heat the vinegar and poured it in the bottle.
after that we tipped the baking soda in and it fizzed up.
the baking soda goes into the vinegar and fizzes up the gas and fills the balloon.
